Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement

The Pesticides Control Board Inspectorate conducts post-registration surveillance to ensure that pesticides are used in accordance with the conditions of registration. Enforcement activities include the monitoring of pesticide importation, transportation, storage, distribution and use of pesticides in the country. Pesticide handling facilities are licensed on an annual basis. Monitoring and enforcement ensures compliance with technical and other regulatory requirements.

Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement

The process for licensing of pesticide handling facilities involves key steps that begin with an inspection of the proposed site and premises. Technical requirements must be complied with and guidelines are provided for prospective facilities.

Routine inspections of Pesticide Handling Facilities are carried out to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Training and Certification of Pesticide Users

Certification is a requirement for purchase and handling of Restricted-Use Pesticides.

The PCB’s National Pesticide Training and Certification Program has an annual schedule of training sessions conducted countrywide, and also tailors training packages for target groups.

Farmer Assistance - Responsible Pesticide Management

The Pesticides Control Board collaborates with agency partners and stakeholders to improve pesticide life cycle management through awareness raising and capacity building.

The Grow Safe campaign promotes the adoption of safer, sustainable practices and approaches in pest and pesticide management.
